Elegant tangerine and flowers with enough texture to stand up to spicy food.

Just concluded the annual Fall seclusion at our cabin in the Rangeley lakes region of Maine, mobile service up there is mostly non-existent, after several days I am posting again. Notes are somewhat brief, as my focus is relaxing and watching the Common Loons swimming and diving in the cove in front of our camp.

Nose has washed green table grapes, clean cotton tee shirt, candied pineapple and stainless steel.
Palate has smashed crabapples, faint maraschino cherry, (minor) green melon and present but fading acidity. This bottle is in decline, but I still enjoy it more than the 2016.

As one might expect, your last bottle generally equals best bottle. Every bottle of this 2016 P-G rosé we opened had been just mediocre. For some mystical reason, this is a horse of a different color... Similar to my notes of two months ago, but more distinctly the sweet red & green table grapes are prominent on the palate. Even my wife, whom I believe despised each bottle opened, did a second take today.

Prior notes mostly apply...

Nose has washed cherries, sliced Thompson grapes and dry sandstone.

Palate has mashed green/red table grapes, (light) citrus zest and green banana peel. Medium-short finish.

I'm still not seeing much improvement in this particular bottle of rosé, decent but not exciting.

About 14 mo. since my last check in on this bottle of Pinot Gris rosé, very similar notes from the prior experience.

Nose has green grapes, cherry skin and steely minerals. Palate had solid acidity, light but fresh pineapple, crabapple and red currant. Remaining bottles should be enjoyed before mid-2020.

Today's yardwork is complete, time for enjoying some bottles in front of a fire in the chimenea!

On the Lawn at Tanglewood this final afternoon with Steve Martin and Martin Short, along with The Steep Canyon Rangers and Jeff Babko.

Nose has green grapes, cherry skin and steely minerals. Palate is rich with acidity, light but fresh pineapple, zingy crabapple and red currant. Lovely after and hour or so of air, likely close to peak, remaining bottles should be enjoyed before mid-2020.
