Throw new oak at Chenin Blanc and you end up with a wine that is indistinguishable from Oakes Chardonnay. The oak overpowers the delicate lanolin and wax aromas of pure Chenin Blanc. However, this is a well made wine and is a good representative sample of the South African style of Oakes Chenin.

Lemon curd, quince, greenish apples, oak which pushed the acidity to the background. ...a delicious wine. Blind, for a half second Meaursault crossed my mind. Was stoked to find this at a restaurant in Laguna last yr being sold at retail price. Had to buy a 2nd to take home. Score!
