Muddy truck tire. Baked blueberries and blackberries. Green peppercorn. Opaque almost black in the middle with a mm of dried blood red at the edge. Dirty. Huge. Full bodied. The densest 2011 I've had. low acid, really high alc (16.1%!). Extracted, astringent and tannic. A little Brett and a little VA. Note: I tasted with 5 other professionals and none of them came close to liking it. The in-your-face and rustic-ness gives the wine an unmistakable charm.

Jan 29th, 2014From Gerhard Reisacher’s now defunct Delectus winery (actually, the winery might still be active, but he’s long gone and has his own excellent eponymous label out of Knight’s Valley), this is drinking quite well!

Oct 28th, 2019Really impressive given its age, this is old school. Great fruit on the nose with hints of leather, this wine might be 17 years old, but I’d bet its got another 5 years easy given its tannic backbone. Very cool.
