Once more we dig way back into the cellar. Slightly hazy blackish purple in the glass. Fruit-forward nose(!) of cassis and graphite. Echoed on the full-bodied palate with medium plus(!) dusty tannins and medium acidity. Medium long finish extends the palate gracefully though with a very slight(!) hint of alcohol burn. Clearly New World, but with a bit of an Old World feel. We’re just over 15(!) years on and it’s really showing marvelously. I pulled this to accompany meat loaf, but I’d feel good taking this to a steak(!) house and pairing with a Porterhouse or prime rib. Drink it if you’ve got it, but(!) there’s a few years left.

Mar 3rd, 2018Good. Complex enough. Hint of earthiness. Tannins might have been a touch aggressive. Star rating takes into account price and value to me. Paid $60, but is a $75 bottle

Oct 14th, 201715 years and could probably sit another 5 or 10 -- if one likes smooth tannins. For me, it's perfect now. Cassis and plum with a touch of leather and blueberry. To be sure, it was practically impossible to make a bad red in wine country in '01, I think this blend matured wonderfully.
