Coume del Mas
Quadratur Collioure Red Rhone Blend
Like a GSM but take out the M and add Carignan. This thoroughly fulfills the winemaker’s yearning for freshness out of Toussillon. Smells of dark and bramble fruits but with pepper and spice and somehow I drink it and see the sea.

Aug 16th, 2021Second and last bottle. As notes unclear where from. Nice black fruited earthy yet jammy (nicely) nose with savory spicy notes and lively texture to long finish. Would be great with roasts. Had Wilson’s chicken pot pie instead which paired ok. Excellent wine. Started 2001 so this is early vintage. Grenache, Mourvèdre, Carignan.

Dec 9th, 2021Digging this. Tried grilling with charcoal for probably the first time in 35 years. Gotta save my propane. Can’t get it filled. Overcooked some filet but it was edible. Another teeth staining wine. Ripe juicy fruit. Happy Saturday!!

Apr 11th, 2020CVed 10/27/16. Not clear where it was bought. Nose a bit reticent at first but detect floral and earthy notes. Palate acidic but balanced and body firm with resolving tannins? Spicy and ripe mature black berries and stones. Medium finish. $30 on label and not found in email. From Collioure Southern France near Spanish border. Grenache SM blend. Opened 3/7/17. Tasting great. Sweet dark fruit and minerality on palate and savory notes on nose and long finish. Raising from 9.0 to 9.1.
