Costers del Siurana
Clos de L'Obac Priorat Grenache Blend
HURRICANE PARTY! (waiting on Irma). Let's open a nice bottle of wine...
Dark ruby in color with a nice brick rim.
On the nose, blueberries, plums, strawberries, currants, licorice, wood, light vanilla, tobacco, vegetables, forest floor, smoke, green pepper, peppercorn, light chocolates and graphite.
Dry on the palate with cherries, strawberries, red currants, oak, mashroooms, smoke, vegetables, herbs, bell pepper, forest floor, spices, black pepper, earth and dirt.
Medium finish with very fine grained tannins, spices and cranberries.
This 18 year old Spanish Priorat is drinking nicely now, but it won't last too long. Earthy and complex with nice balance. Interesting and layered.
Needed an hour to open up properly and died after 3 hours.
13.5% alcohol by volume.

Dried cherry, grenadine, licorice, tarragon, leather. Way more complex than I'm used to seeing out of Priorat. Only 13.5 abv as well! Really tasty!

This wine was extremely enjoyable as well. Wondered if it was a Zin at first, and then went to Malbec...neither was right. Very complex. Dark. Peppercorn, black licorice, plums, violet.

Savory as any Priorat previously tasted. Super fresh/lively. Reminiscent of well-made medoc.

1 person found it helpfulJan 19th, 2015Not as complex nose as I expected, mostly dark berry fruit. Rich tasting, with game, the hallmark wet stone, and subtle spice. Tannins fully integrated. Not much acidity. Vanilla and cacao from the barrique exposure. Would go better with smoked pork than the cast-iron fried steak we had it with.
