May 7th, 2019Interesting hue difference between bottle and glass; amateur anthocyanin fans, take note. Light salmon pink hue with red overtones. Funky-sulfur aroma initially. No varietal info on label, but website reveals blend of 50% Pinot noir, 25% Syrah, 25% Zinfandel, and 3000 cases made. Grapefruit, paraffin and cranberry flavors, with some strawberry and creaminess in there. Dominant strawberry over time. Dry to bone dry. Slight skin astringency, but mouthfeel is otherwise thin. Not much reviewed here, but I like it. An excellent flavor and tannin backbone for a rose. Not as rounded mouthfeel as most roses, which differentiates it positively in my book. Crisp enough for food, barely, but for sipping or an aperitif, color me a solid fan. Hail Lodi!
