Petite Sirah
To celebrate 10,000 followers on Vivino, here is a deliciously aged Petite Sirah.
Deep and inky in color with a very short purple rim. This Petite Sirah is not showing its age whatsoever. A teeth staining color.
Still very fruity on the nose with blackberries, blueberries, black cherries, dried figs, raisins, earth, light vanilla, cedar, licorice, spices, chocolates, mocha, dark coffee, leather and black pepper
Full bodied and bold with medium acidity and long legs. Smooth and elegant.
Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, sweet cherries, raisins, vanilla, cedar, licorice, cloves, cola, spices, graphite, light vegetables, milk chocolates, tobacco, mocha, earth and peppercorn.
Long finish with medium grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This 13 year old Petite Sirah from California is drinking very nicely now. Nicely balanced, smooth, elegant and very enjoyable by itself.
Showing great complexity and a beautiful mouthfeel. Dark, rich, extracted and very powerful.
Nice to see that some tannins are still left in it. Needed a while to open up properly. I decanted it for 5 hours.
I had this vintage 2 years ago, and it is it drinking better now. At this point, it really reminds me of a nicely aged Napa Cabernet.
100% Petite Sirah grapes, 63% from Lake County and 37% from Napa Valley.
15.5% alcohol by volume.
97 points.
$45.

Full-bodied and bold, yet elegant and smooth, with medium plus acidity and gorgeous legs.
Dry and fruity on the palate, with blackberries, figs, cooked plums, sweet cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, light cloves, coffee, bitter herbs, light vegetables and lots of peppercorn.
Long finish with firm and round tannins, and black pepper.
This 10 year old Petite Sirah, is very fruit forward and complex, with many layers, and nicely balanced. Needs three hours to fully open up.
Would probably be just as good in the next three years. Good by itself and would definitely be awesome with a big piece of steak on the grill.
I paired it with light appetizers and Cheeses, and with some nice weather by the pool.
