Cornerstone's Stepping Stone Pinot Noir 2012 is the entry level label in their portfolio of Oregon Pinots. Certainly, the winery's California pedigree shines through in that this is fairly robust for Oregon State. The nose is warmly expressive, with a riot of dusty black cherries, cola, and spice crowning more serious aromas of forest floor, underbrush, and dried leaves. Texturally, the tannins are fine, with bright acidity nicely complimenting supple layers of red and black fruit. Nicely done for the price.
