Inky dense purple, highly extracted pigment. Cherry, plum, mint notes in nose with hints of vanilla and funk. Smells colossal, basically. Black licorice, then cherry flavors with length, good acidity and tannins. Have patience with this one, decant but the fruit is there from the get-go. Also some ash and cola as myself and others have noted before.

Jun 8th, 2020Dense purple, highly extracted pigment. Funky vegetal black currant mint and raspberry-red fruit notes in nose on initial pour. Cherry and cocoa flavor with tar and light cola-ish finish. Light skin tannin astringency in aftertaste. Tobacco, ash and a hint of black pepper emerge in finish after an hour. Nice varietal complexity, light but rightly balanced on the acid and alcohol fronts.
