I've become picky about Sauvignon Blanc since I moved to the Napa Valley. Many Napa Valley Sauvignon Blancs are produced like Chardonnay and it ends up being overripe and over-oaked. I'm so happy that the 2013 Coquerel Wines Sauvignon Blanc is not. Sure, it has some creaminess from oak aging, but right out of the gate springs vibrant acidity and a burst of bright, tart citrus taking the lead. This is fantastic. ($32, sample)

Oaked SB. Full-bodied for the varietal. Slight citrus and tartness.

A tad rustic on opening, the The 2011 Coquerel Tempranillo arrives on the scene with a bouquet of freshly turned soil and a hint of barnyard. However, after more than an hour of being open, layers of roasted strawberry and cherry rise to the surface, along with a beguiling floral top note of lilac. Vibrant acidity on the palate, and as with the other reds from Coquerel, its a crafted with a lighter touch. Medium-bodied, with discreet toast and the earthier notes reemerge on the finish along with a hint of spice. 14.0% ABV | Sample

Very clean and crisp. On the deck with brats and burgers. Little tart finish. Not a very deep tasting SB

Awesome Sauv Blanc. Clean and crisp, hint of apricot. Perfect for a summer day on the deck.
