Lovely Amarone della Valpolicella 2011 from Conti de Bregonzo! High density and softness, candied plum tasting notes.

Raisin, liquorice, cloves, wet autumn leaves. Can't beat the price.

2008 vintage showing its age for sure but some nice redeemable spice and stewed fruit maybe even liqourice . But definitely on the down hill slope

Rich, thick, really coats the palate. A perfect accompaniment to oxtail ragù with calves brains ravioli and a 6-0 record.

I haven't had great luck with inexpensive Amarone's. The DOCG labeling requires one of the most labor intensive, expensive red wine types. But this glass yielded beautiful fruit with an elegant finish. Since they dry the grapes prior to pressing, cheaper Amarone's can have a raisin flavor. There was none here. Purchased at Trader Joe's for under $20 ... This bottle is a steal! Look for it and give it a try. An amazing find. Cheers!!
