The 2016 Bramaterra Cascina Cottignano is bold, ample and super-expressive, although it is going to need at least a few years in bottle to be at its best. Even today, though, the wine's depth and overall resonance are both apparent. Dark red cherry, plum, spice, rose petal and earthy notes all flesh out in this potent, exotically rich Bramaterra. Rich mefium Ruby color and a perfect balance of black fruit, tar and earthy violet. This is a lovely, elegant red that is light enough to go with fish and flavorful enough to stand up to a spicy ragu. Total win

Beautiful Nebbiolo-based blend. Dark cherry, strawberry, and earthy notes. Precise and structured with good acidity, almost like a red Burgundy. Can't get enough of this wine! Purchased at Popina in Brooklyn, NY.
