Still very young. Gideon's wines seem timeless sometimes.

And last but certainly not least the Clos Saron Black Pearl. Found it almost "Cornas-esque". A reminder I need to visit Gideon soon.

Cracked black pepper and so much beguiling je ne sais quoi on the nose. Deep funk to be sure but there was a great blend of brett, balanced with VA and a touch of cellar funk. It just worked so well together, believe it or not. Began backwards and tannic, to be sure but it opened to be a somewhat softer, if one-dimensional wine.

this was in the sweet spot. Perfect night to open this. Wanted something with some rusticity for the meal. Well-balanced ripe fruit, whole clusters and minerality. Evolved into ripasso-like fruits and some volatility after some time in the decanter, indicating that this won't be improving. If you have it, you're in for a treat.
