Dark ruby garnet. Abundant nose of cassis, red plum, cola, and coffee. Juicy (medium plus acidity) palate of cassis, red apple, plum, cola, and a hint of fading vanilla all at once and one at a time. Medium full body. Medium tannins (even 15 years on!). Medium, darkish finish. A great example of how a well-made New World red can hold up over time. Still vibrant to the eye, on the nose, and on the palate, but without the excesses of youth. Take it to any dinner. An American-style Porterhouse (dry “cowboy” rubbed) would sing with this. Likewise the humble beef pot pie, which is my current evening meal. Not showing signs of fading, but it’s drinking beautifully now so drunk up by 2023.
