Clos du Pelerin
Pomerol
2022 vintage. The 2022 vintage is a gift of ( a very challenging) nature, and this is another testimony to the greatness of the vintage. Succulent red fruit, spices, coffee and dark chocolate, embedded in a silky tannin structure, balanced by fresh acidity. I've tasted many vintages of this very reliable estate, and this seems to be the best ever. Abv. 14%.

Dec 16th, 20242019 vintage. The latest release was not included in the vertical I had at the estate, so tasted separately. Seems to have a little less weight compared to 2018, 2016 and 2015 , but a very good effort in a very fresh, more mineral style. Impeccable balance and long mineral finish. Delicious, if not so obviously Pomerol. Abv. 14%.

Nov 29th, 20212017 vintage. A solid effort in a vintage that was unjustly slammed by the press. Little wine was made because of severe frost, but what was left was much better than 2013. Did a vertical tasting at this small Pomerol estate this morning and everything was up to standard with the exception of the 2013 that cannot hide some unripeness. 2018, 2016 and 2015 are all excellent, followed by solid wines in 2017 and 2014 , whereas the lighter 2012 and more rustic 2004 still offer nice Pomerol value.

Nov 23rd, 20212012 vintage. Small 3,5 hectares family estate, planted with 80% Merlot and equal parts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Smooth and velvety, not particularly profound but nice value for Pomerol. Drinking perfectly now.
