Jan 25th, 2013Last bottle of the Gran Estirpe, Malbec from Argentina. This go around decanted for 2 hours. Dark and red cherries, blueberries, cassis followed by musky wood and smoke. Vibrant acidity with cranberry candy finish and mild white peppers. soft to medium chewy tannin. The tannin doesn’t linger along the cheeks and tongue just quite enough, similar to the last bottle (but now I’m knit picking). Overall, decanting for over 2 hours definitely enhanced the flavour profile and allowed for greater appreciation of the wine’s complexity. Alcohol content 14.5%. Served with homemade red Thai chicken curry.

Apr 2nd, 2019Big fruit bomb at the beginning. Mix of plums, dark cherries, blueberries, cassis. Finishes off with mild vanilla and peppery spice. Not a complex wine and the end putters off too quickly.
