Cline Cellars
Small Berry Vineyard Mourvèdre
Nose has blueberry jam, dried out brownie corner, dried blackberry, old leather and dried eucalyptus.
Palate has cedar & oak shavings, dark cocoa powder, blueberry-blackberry jam (low sugar), dried orange peel, (light) baking spice with light tannins and a long, dry finish. Decanted 3H.
Purchased several bottles in 2004, down to one left after this bottle. Last bottle was 213 weeks prior, and it assuredly didn't taste anything like this gem tonight. I recall heavy green notes and overbearing eucalyptus, even after 24 hours... I guess this just needed a solid 18 years to get going. Note to future self, last bottle should be 2022-26.

Incredibly cool wine. Still relatively fresh despite its age. Raisins, fig, menthol, cassis.

Apr 4th, 2017This was a surprise. Though perhaps shouldn't be as Cline makes value wines... and this more focused effort displays great character. Mature, earthy, and old worldy.

Apr 2nd, 20172012 drinking very well. Blackberry chocolate, a little stone fruit around the edges; satisfying. Fine tannins at the right level of grip.

Jan 13th, 20162012. Fan of prev vintages... Big tannins mask this source's usual rewards. Hard to tell what's to come - dark berry fruit, coffee / bitter chocolate notes hint at revelations in 3-5 yrs
