Direct Chateau import from K&L. Bottles are in excellent condition. Tasting this at their Redwood City store thanks to a heads up from Clyde. Sweet & sour dark cherries, cooked rhubarb, dates, prunes, figs, sweet leather, tobacco leaf, dry pebbles, rich black earth, dry florals, touch of lightly roasted used coffee grounds, steeped tea, crush rocks, big acidity and the fruits are still solid on the lean but polished finish. Taking one home with me.

#steakandclaretnight chez moi with Marin Sun Farms ribeye and this rarely-seen 2nd label of Pape-Clement. Although a little dodgy looking with a low fill and signs of seepage, this 28 year old just gained dark fruit and freshness in the decanter. Delicious, if a bit simple for a nearly 30 year old claret.

Perfect paring with the Lamb Shank tonight. The fruit in this direct K&L Chateau import is so soft, elegant and slides easy over the palate. Stewed blackberries, dark cherries, cherries, dry cranberries, rhubarb, figs, dates, prunes, pouched strawberry preserves, light tobacco with ash, velvety leather, dry stems, dry brown earth with crushed rocks, dry pebbles, steeped tea, perfect acidity and a beautiful, lean, elegant, delicate, ripe finish that seems to not end. One of the best parts of this experience is the 12.5 degrees of alcohol. It's simply shameful someone thought 15-16 degrees was a good idea. It just doesn't make wine better. In fact, it takes away from it!!!

Cork didn't make it, 75% crumble,
2 hour decant,
Chips &'salsa hides the taste, otherwise 8.0
