May possibly be experiencing slight second fermentation, but if so it is very slight and -- I can't believe I'm saying this -- the spritz is kind of a nice pair with the well rounded flavors. No, I'm not crazy. I'm actually really enjoying this wine regardless of the potential flaw, which astounds me. The finish is bold, though not overly dry. That's so different from the wines I typically love, so it's definitely coming in as a surprise favorite currently. Don't let the screw top fool you. ;)

2 people found it helpfulFeb 26th, 2016A very nice color of dark ruby with a red / purplish rim.
On the nose, blueberries cherries, strawberries, alcohol, oak, vanilla, licorice, chocolates, earth, light smoke and peppercorn.
Medium bodied with high acidity and long legs.
Tart and dry on the palate with cranberries, pomegranate, blueberries, tart cherries, oak, vanilla, alcohol, licorice, limes, spices and black pepper.
Tart finish with extremely soft tannins and tart cherries.
I opened this 2 days ago and it was so tart, I could not drink it, so I figured I'd give it a couple of days to open up. Big difference, but not enough for me to enjoy.
Extremely unbalanced, hot at the back of the throat, unattractive, and to me, it's not enjoyable at all. Others liked it, though. Definitely not worth the $16 I spent. Might be too old, or a bad bottle. Or maybe it's just me...
A blend of 39% Petite Sirah, 34% Zinfandel, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Syrah, 3% Tempranillo and 2% Malbec. Each varietal was aged separately, in stainless steel and oak barrels.
13.7% alcohol by volume.
