Stellar. So deep. So precise. Terrific. Brutally young. Really nice loamy mineral and brilliant freshness. Does the big fresh thing very well.

Billon Cote-Rotie La Brocarde 13 - smokey, aromatic, tarry and leathery. Menthol and mint. Very aromatic. Sweet fruit and oak a bit dominant but it is all there.

Christophe Billon Brocards 2010 - right next to Cote Brune. Floral and oaky. 26 months in new barrels. Juicy and ripe on palate. Needs a ton of time. Meaty and ripe. Needs mucho time.

Very nice aromatics. Couldn't mistake it for anything but Northern Rhone. Approachable on opening and with the new oak had a very modern style at first. Decanted in a "duck" decanter, so lots of exposure to air. Evolved to a more pleasant / less modern style quickly even while retaining some of the new oak. Served in Rhone / Syrah glasses. Meaty but not too heavy, good palate of leather, earth, smoke, and some mushrooms.

Served in Burgundy glasses. Floral and red cherry aromas at first. Secondary aromas of mushroom and leather. Medium mouth feel. Good red fruits on the palate. Light bacon drippings as well.

Open 4 days but still intense. Only 588 bottles produced, two barrels. Still full of ripe cherry fruit, smoked dried meat, menthol, kalamata olive, pepper and spice. Precise, serious, and deep. Awesome.
