Chester's Anvil
Mead Ranch Zinfandel
Delicious, and showing some of that toasty, brambly thing that Zins show with a little bottle age. But the delicious spicy blackberry Zin fruit is still front and center, but complicated with some crushed granite. Very savory in the mouth, with a long finish. Acids aren’t that bad for a wine with 15% alc., which only barely registers as heat.

Aug 22nd, 2018Really good zin. Dialed back and restrained, which I love. Single vineyard Atlas peak juice. High toned with beautiful florals, juicy red fruit, bubblegum, and a bit of spice. This was tasty. Great buy.

Feb 11th, 2017Chester's Anvil from the Atlas Peak AVA in Napa, only 42 cases produced.
Pretty nose on this zinfandel with sweet anise, cocoa dust, jammy red plums and sweet pepper notes. There's also some herbs I don't recognize as anything in particular but add to an overall sweetness. The tannins are very well integrated with a punch of acidity and sweet plum and black fruit dominating. This zin has great balance overall, and would go well with balanced food or simply on its own.
