Château Vincens
Origine Cahors Malbec
Plenty of root beer and licorice notes off the nose now day 3, and rich milk chocolatey plum and blackberry fruit. Had more stones and spine in the beginning of its oxidation, but this is still a softer, rounder, more polished cahors than many. However, it is quite dense, harmonious, and the oak is well integrated. I prefer em rougher around the edges, but this is excellent wine for a mere $17!

Sep 16th, 2015Honestly, the Argentine Malbec’s are king, but this French Cahors ain’t bad. The nose was especially nice. Tannins definitely show up early. Black berries are powerfully up front. Not much chocolate and not much licorice. Aftertaste is totally PLUM and pepper.

Jun 5th, 2024I should’ve known that a Cahors that chose to bill itself as Malbec would be kind of bland.

Fruitier than I expected. My first impression was it’s more like a Pinot noir, but I don’t really think that a couple of days later. This is a fine table wine. The alcohol taste is a little strong and although it has a long, velvety finish, it’s more astringent than I’d like. I have to admit, I like the South American Malbecs better than the French Malbecs. I always expect the French ones to be superior, but I have yet to find one that is.
