It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday. Let's bring Merlot back!

Deep inky in color with a short reddish rim.

Fruity nose with black plums, black currants, blackberries, cedar, licorice, cassis, light vanilla, spices, tobacco leaf, herbs, light vegetables and chocolates.

Full-bodied and elegant with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry and fruit forward on the palate with plums, currants, oak, vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, peppercorn, light earth, dark coffee and light black tea.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This is a delicious Merlot-based blend from Bordeaux. Complex and interesting. Fruit forward and elegant.

This 6 year old Merlot will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years. I had this vintage two years ago, and it would be nice to revisit it again in 5 years.

Good right out of the bottle, and better after an hour in the decanter.

Easy drinking and well-balanced.
The high alcohol is nicely integrated now, so watch out.

Good by itself as a sipping wine, and will also pair nicely with barbecue meats.

A blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. Kosher and not Mevushal.

15% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$50.

It's time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday.

This is a very tasty Merlot based Bordeaux from Lalande de Pomerol.

Dark purple in color with a short reddish rim.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with black plums, cooked cherries, tobacco, cedar, leather, vanilla, licorice, spices and chocolates.

This 5 year old is drinking very nicely now. Elegant, fruity and easy drinking right out of the bottle.

Would continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.

I like the fact that it has relatively low alcohol, which means that I can drink more of it.

I paired it with a cheese plate and crackers.

A blend of 70% Merlot with Cabernet Franc. Kosher and not Mevushal.

13% alcohol by volume.

It's time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday.

Deep ruby in color with a short reddish rim. Very intense color.

Strong nose of blackcurrants, cedar, blueberries, light vanilla, licorice, light earth, spices, eucalyptus, coffee, dark chocolates, tobacco leaf, herbs, pencil lead and peppercorn.

Full-bodied and bold with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, leather, vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, light vegetables, earth and peppercorn.

Long finish with grippy tannins and tangy raspberries.

This young Merlot based Bordeaux is delicious already. A good quality wine. Showing nice complexity and balance.

Needs time to open up properly. I gave it 90 minutes to open up and shine. Softened up dramatically after 3 hours of air time.

I had the 2017 last year, and it is very consistent. Will age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years.

Good by itself as a sipping wine and good with food. I paired it with meats and cheeses.

Spicy and entertaining. Elegant, rich and powerful. A delicious wine.

A blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. Kosher. Non Mevushal.

15% alcohol by volume.

Review #3300!

It's time for some Merlot on this
#MerlotThursday. Here is a beautiful one from Pomerol.

Dark ruby in color with a short reddish/ cloudy rim.

Great nose of black currants, black plums, black cherries, oak, licorice, vanilla, chocolates, cocoa, earth, bell pepper, leather, vegetables, spices and black pepper.

Full-bodied, smooth and elegant, with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with black currants, cherries, plums, light bell pepper, spices, oak, licorice, chocolates, tobacco, herbs, leather, earth, cinnamon, light vinaigrette and black pepper.

Medium plus on the finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

Here is the story of this one. I opened it yesterday and decanted it for 2 hours, but it didn't feel like it was there, so I put it back in the bottle and put it in the fridge.

Today this is a different story. This wine is singing already. Showing nice complexity with a great mouthfeel. Nicely balanced and Interesting with a great nose.

Good by itself or with food. very enjoyable by itself or with food.

This 3 year old is still very young, but very approachable with enough air time. Showing lots of fruits now. Really enjoyable and delicious. Graceful and generous.

This young Bordeaux needs time to mature and will be great in the next 10 to 20 years.

I paired it with cheeses, fresh blackberries and olives.

A blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. Kosher for Passover. Not Mevushal.

13% alcohol by volume.

92 points.
