In a good zone to drink, but more band-aid-bretty than I enjoy (and I don't mind a little brett)

Médium but quite bright ruby garnet , medium garnet rim . Quiet Cabernet nose , slightly austere , with dusty blackcurrant , cedar , coffee , grafite. Quite round and silky on the palate , ripe tannins , touch medicinal with a grafite , tobacco note on the finish. Shows a bit of the heat of 1990, this will not improve probably should be drunk relatively soon

This was the last bottle from a case I bought in about 1997. Over the 29 years since the wine was made, the noteworthy tar and tobacco notes that Pontet Canet is known for softened to an ashy-ness that is a softer version of a Mouton Rothschild. Still plenty of life left in this outstanding vintage, but the wine won't improve much (if at all) from this point. I enjoyed this bottle with Lucas Comfort, a day after his 29th birthday (1990).

Best bottle so far - deep cedar-y, earthy, cassis with a bit of tannic bite, balanced acidity, and a finish of medium length but excellent intensity.

Note: this is not necessarily a unicorn wine. I just wanted to draw a unicorn. He is awesome.

Вино года рождения моей старшей дочери . Выпил день не рождения в Минске. Что сказать - не зря Паркер поставил ему 100 баллов за этот год. Подтверждаю оценку.
