2008 Château Monbousquet Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé - elegant and classic representation of Bordeaux. Cool vintage yielded medium plus acidity, medium body, medium plus tannins and a chalky texture. Driven by tart black cherry/leather belt/tea leaf/ burnt orange peel and tobacco this wine is showing more acidity and mineral than fruit. Excellent pairing with seared ribeye steak, potato hash, roasted leaks and mushroom cream gravy.

This wine is hitting its stride. Don’t think that it will evolve much more. Dropping it’s youthful fruit and has evolved to a mature wine. Much more mineraly and the fruit has morphed as well.

6th bottle into a case. Best yet. Some of the coffee has burnt off and fruit is more prevalent. In its sweet spot now. The remaining 6 bottles have little chance of being around much longer.
