Took an hour to really open up and begin to express itself. Black licorice, plum, dark fruit that balances out the heat. Nice earth notes come through mid palate. I really enjoyed this

I'm not sure I've had my way with it yet, 35 minutes in. It may need another 30 or so to be perfect. On the nose I get all the ripe melons and blackberries. I the mouth the tannins are there but nicely balanced with a certain vine-y (can we make vineaceous as word?) tobacco essence that pulls out the mouth juices quickly as the tannins dry them up. But there is a freshness interlaced with dried plums overlaying it all. It is exotic and rustic, old-school and new wave all in one.

Speaks mainly to Syrah, reminiscent of a warm vintage St. Joseph, as well as a sanguine character akin to Bandol. The only suggestion of Cab is a hint of pyrazine. Very nice, carries its alcohol well.
