Well I must say this was a pretty interesting lunch I had yesterday at the Chicago Cut Restaurant. This 2009 Margaux du Chateau Margaux our client chose to have with our meal. This was on the wine list at $165 and it can be bought at K&L for $99.99. So I would say not a bad mark up. This is Margaux 3rd wine and a very nice Bordeaux. I was really impressed being a 3rd wine and am sure being from the 2009 vintage didn't hurt. This had a very rich and fruity nose. There is kirsch, black currant, a spicy note and some cocoa. I was really excited to get into this but I had to subdue my excitement and take my time after all I was with a client that chose the wine. I waited patiently until my guest took his first sip. Upon first taste I found the wine very smooth with supple tannins. There were nice blackberry, currant, blueberries, cream de cassis, vanilla, and violet notes. I would definitely call this medium to full bodied with nice medium + acidity that leads to a long enjoyable finish. This is a wonderful bottle of wine and could pass for Margaux 2nd wine. This wine is very drinkable now.

Very approachable for such a young Bordeaux. Dark plum and blackberry, fig, some oak.

Tasted at Pebble Beach Food & Wine #PBFW I was quite pleased to happen upon the third label of Château Margaux, 2009 is the inaugural vintage. Youthful and fresh, it's a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot. The nose is on the quiet side, with delicate aromas of black currant and blueberries, violets and a trace of earth. It's not at all heavy, despite the fact that the tannins are ripe, they are still fine, with only minimal toast. Great purity of fruit, and an pleasing touch of minerality. Sample
