Hints of elegance that may have opened up more if decanted, but suspect oakiness is covering up a slight lack of finish.

Jan 13th, 2017A tightrope walk...making the most of the worst plots in a coveted region. A "second wine" produced by a 5th cru (!) Pauillac château & falls into Bordeaux's generic Left Bank appellation of Haut-Médoc. Anyone who raised their nose too high to read the screen at "5th cru" will pass anyway, but others will discover an artful blend. A bit lighter than its lofty peers (also in price), still classic Bordeaux. Intense red, dark cherries, evocative smokiness, gentle oaky spice & silky tannins. Imminently sippable.
