In one of the great communes of one of the great wine regions of the world there are many superb wines. Chateau a Le Crock is not one of them. I am not sure if it’s the property, the winemakers, or both. But Crock is a lump of coal in a neighborhood of diamonds. 2005 was, of course, a high mark for Bordeaux. So I figured I’d see what Crock can do when conditions are optimal. The result is not bad. Classic Bordeaux features are evident. But the efforts of the winemakers do little to improve what nature provided.
