So much greatness in this quote on unquote second growth Pauillac… To the eye it has a deep ruby red color, it hides its age impressively. The tears are moderate, and there is a vanishing rim, but blindly it would have been difficult to discern. The aromas are profound with the purity of red and dark berries ever present. Black currant, pencil shavings, cigar box, plum and leather are also perceived. On the pallet it is dense yet smooth with good fluidity. A burst of red and black fruit with well integrated acidity, a hint of spiciness, resolved tannings, and some dry wood notes as well. Quite complex, moderate finish, hitting many good notes on the pallet. I really enjoyed this classic Pauillac.
