Château Latour Camblanes
Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux Red Bordeaux Blend
2016 vintage. Cadillac was historically known for sweet white wines and the Appellation Cadillac is still reserved for these only. These days the region is more focused on reds that go under the Appellation Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux. Note that dry whites and rosé wines from this region can only be sold as Bordeaux AOC. Château Latour Camblanes, owned by the big Castel group, has 44 hectares of vineyards, mainly Merlot (90%) with some Cabernet Sauvignon. Another great value at around 10 euro in this fabulous vintage. Even with this high Merlot content, it has more of a left bank Médoc feel about it. Classic Bordeaux, a bit restrained, the alcohol (abv 14%) perfectly integrated with elegance, ripe tannins and a certain complexity. The Côtes de Bordeaux have never been more exciting for value hunters. .

1 person found it helpfulNov 26th, 2014Meat juice, blackcurrant, a bit of heat too. The palate is quite impressive with a very large scope, some width, some thickness on the sides, a bit of a meat juice note and blackcurrant all around. Gentle tannins and a long finish with leat juice, a bit of salt and some bitterness and cocoa, milky notes. That's a great effort, even more so considering the price tag.
