Château Latour Camblanes
Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux Red Bordeaux Blend
Côtes De Bordeaux, Bordeaux, France

Vintage 2021 | This wine confirms in everything that Entre Deux Mers is thé area to search for value. Dark colour, plums, red cherries and a hint of blackberries, strict tannins but also rounded after aeration. A 90% Merlot estate. Matched fine with our Sunday venison steak, baked potatoes and mushrooms with a salad. Very good stuff.

Nov 2nd, 20252022 vintage. Another winner from the own estates from the Castel family, and the best I have tasted from this estate. Juicy red fruit, with fresh acidity and soft tannin. Lots of uncomplicated pleasure for very little money. Abv. 14,5%.

Oct 30th, 20252019 vintage. 100% Merlot. One of the Castel family estates. While I have a slight preference for the Château Goëlane 2020 ( Bordeaux Supérieur) from the same owners, this is very good value for money too. A nice every day Bordeaux that doesn't break the bank. Abv. 14%.

Oct 22nd, 20252016 vintage. Cadillac was historically known for sweet white wines and the Appellation Cadillac is still reserved for these only. These days the region is more focused on reds that go under the Appellation Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux. Note that dry whites and rosé wines from this region can only be sold as Bordeaux AOC. Château Latour Camblanes, owned by the big Castel group, has 44 hectares of vineyards, mainly Merlot (90%) with some Cabernet Sauvignon. Another great value at around 10 euro in this fabulous vintage. Even with this high Merlot content, it has more of a left bank Médoc feel about it. Classic Bordeaux, a bit restrained, the alcohol (abv 14%) perfectly integrated with elegance, ripe tannins and a certain complexity. The Côtes de Bordeaux have never been more exciting for value hunters. .

Meat juice, blackcurrant, a bit of heat too. The palate is quite impressive with a very large scope, some width, some thickness on the sides, a bit of a meat juice note and blackcurrant all around. Gentle tannins and a long finish with leat juice, a bit of salt and some bitterness and cocoa, milky notes. That's a great effort, even more so considering the price tag.
