1994 Château La Mission Haut-Brion from #PessacLeognan. Last tried this around one year ago. There is still a lot of very ripe fruit, but accompanying this is some background mustiness, old library book, leather, soy sauce, and tobacco. Appears somewhat austere and what I would describe as clinical on the palate. Tannins are unobtrusive. Medium level acidity. Average length on the finish. On its own, this is a really nice wine, and one of the better Bordeaux wines from 1994. But compared to other vintages of La Mission, this doesn't quite hit the mark. Will likely drink our last two bottles in our cellar within the next couple of years. This is good to drink now while you're waiting for your 1998s and 2000s to come around (which may take awhile).
