This was like tasting history. Green bell pepper, barnyard funk, sweet cassis, and plenty of acid left.

Just enough volatility to keep things in motion. Bright and long with refined red fruit and finely textured tannin.

My first taste of a right bank from ‘82. From a mag. Surprisingly deep in color and rim not nearly as brickish as you’d expect at 40 years old. This wine went through 3-4 phases over the evening: phase 1 was “old British mens club”—ie tabacco and leather and old wood, phase 2 was more soft fruit - dried/baked spiced red plum and red currant/licorice (tannins soft AF and barely perceptible at this age) and phase 3 was back to leather, tobacco and loads of black and even some cayenne pepper. Seems like this wine has settled in a good spot and has been/will hang out there for some time — I wouldn’t necessarily hold out any longer to see if it improves though at the same time, with its acid structure and powerful aromatics/flavor, I don’t see this wine degrading any time soon.

You smell this and you know it's OLD. Such a beautiful nose that you can spend all day smelling. A very nice, lasting finish. Tar, leather, and plum.

Excellent! Fantastic fruit! Still structured! We miss Miles! But the Padres are apparently winning against the Yankees. The short ribs go great with it...although it's lobster day, so K and I had lobster :) so much fun to be with everyone! xoxo

Fabulous '82 Bordeaux. A St. Emilion from the terroir next to Cheval Blanc. It's the ersatz Cheval Blanc '82. Delicious.
