Down the middle

You were dried fruits of black cherry, black berry, blueberry, prune mixed with violets and cedar. You had a chalky minerality with forest floor. Vanilla mixed with leather and tobacco and cigar box hinted at your oak. You were medium acid, medium plus alcohol (arguably medium), medium plus tannin and a medium finish. You were Chateau La Clare 2006, and I nailed you! (Ok, you were more red than orange so I called you 2009!)

Very heavy on the nose. Aroma is salty and briny. Purchased at airport in Paris. Probably would not seek out again.

Purchased a case of 6 whilst in France. Lovely heady wine my only compliant is the 3 bottles I have opened so far have contained a lot of sediment - next time I plan to decant.

Medium body pretty smooth but there are better bottles in this price range although this is mevushal
