It's #MerlotThursday! Here is a nice one from France.

Dark Ruby in color with a wide brick rim.

Fruity nose with blueberries, blackberries, black currants, earth, wood, light vanilla, dust, spices, wet leaves, vegetables, herbs, cola, dark coffee, vinaigrette and peppercorn.

Medium plus in body and smooth, with medium plus acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with blackberries, raspberries, black currants, plums, bell pepper, oak, licorice, cloves, earth, vegetables, pencil lead, peppercorn, spices and bitter herbs.

Medium plus on the finish with firm tannins and tangy cranberries.

This is a wonderful Merlot based Bordeaux, that is still young. Not fully balanced yet, but showing great structure and mouthfeel with nice complexity. Has lots of green notes and nice fruits all intertwined together.

I opened it for an hour, and it was pretty much undrinkable, so I let it sit for 6 hours. (This review is after 6 hours of air time). Needs 3 years to chill out in the bottle.

A blend of 70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc.

14% alcohol by volume.

89 points.

$27.
