Nice wine, moderate tannins, paired well with chicken and beef.

Oct 25th, 2022We are having a Pizza and Pinot night so I went down to the cellar to look at various options and this wonderful bottle from Château Des Charmes leapt off the rack. Initial impressions on removing the cork were a wonderful earthy nose, great color, already moving to a brick red. The first sip was full of complexity, earth and dark fruits are there. As it opens I will update further. Having given an hour or so, the Pinot has opened up considerably. The earthiness has softened with notes of black cherry and has a relatively long finish. A surprising amount of tannins for a 7+ year old Pinot, I have another bottle or two in the cellar, so will have to see how they are in 5 or so more years.
