Great value Bordeaux for $21 a little bit on the dry side, but opens up nicely after about 30 minutes paired well with beef

80 %merlot, 20% cab. Subtle underlying fruits: blackberries, currants, some vanilla. Dry, smooth. 14% alcohol.

Really love this blend. It’s rich and supple without being overwhelming.

Smell (bottle): licorice, smell (glass): ? Strong alcohol, color: deep garnet/ruby nearly burgundy; first taste (not decanted): very tannic, dry made my tongue raspy. Second sip (not decanted): tasted duhat or black palm fruit. Third taste (decanted): less tannic, smoother like black currant. I like it better decanted though more exciting un decanted. Medium to full bodied. Would work beautifully with a short rib bolognese with tagliatelle pasta or a birria taco dipped in consomé. Tasted great with a nutty savory basque cheese and traditional (not kettle) potato chips.
