A nice nose. Tobacco, smoky dark fruit. On the palate nice and dense. A little tart and sharp on the finish

Monthly WTF wine group night. Our theme was American oak vs French oak. All wines tasted blind. We started off with two bottles of bubbly and finished with two non-themed reds.

Posting my review from a few months back as my experience was the exact same.

Very ripe and integrated. Full spectrum of red and black fruit, cassis, pipe tobacco and worn saddle leather on the nose. Structure was still very solid with plenty of tannins at the finish to keep this upright. Round on the palate...dark cocoa dusted dates, roasted plum, cardamom and muddled raspberries. Drinking really well but will probably hold in this window for a few years.

Was only able to enjoy this at pop and pour and had to leave after half the bottle, but it didn’t need a lot of coaxing. Very ripe and integrated. Weak showing. Very industrial character. Snow goose medallions were the highlight.

Unmistakable Pauillac character; only moderate depth, complexity; and more noticeable brett than I desire.

Got to taste this on amazing generosity. Tannins and structure softening enough to meld with the intense and powerful aroma and palate. Gorgeous.

Plenty of life left in this one. Could go another 10 years.

From mag: Brilliant wine. Ripe and elegantly extracted tannins. Dank Cabernet with a multitude of savory qualities that the new world could never achieve. Pungent nose, long smooth body. Light, gorgeous and perfectly balanced. Really taken aback. Concentrated and graphitey. Surprisingly long finish. Much, much better from magnum than a 750 consumed a week later.
