On the palate; rich, lush, elegant; dark currants, blackberries, dark cherries, black raspberries, black plum, nice structure, dark rich earth, understated vanilla, touch of leather, dry rock powder, nice round acidity and a very surprising beautiful & elegant finish for a Castillion Cotes de Bordeaux. Barrel sample brought from Bordeaux.

Sep 1st, 2017Blackberries, blueberries, cassis, a little pie spice, bitter chocolate, plums. A bit acidic at the jump (room temp) but showed well with a slight chill after 30 minutes. $10 @ Costco.

2014 vintage. Not impressed on first taste but changed considerably after about 30 mins. Pruny dark fruit, licorice, pencil, and cassis on both nose and palate with a bit of red fruit in there as well. Medium tanins and acidity. A little hot. Didn't quite stand up to a grilled steak but very pleasant on its own.

Red and blue fruits, spicy, peppery, a little mushroomy, a little smokey, restrained fruitiness but little red berries linger in the palate in the very dry finish. M acid. Nice balance of wood, earth and fruit. Solid.
