Its about the subtleties here. Blackberries/currants, leather, black pepper. Nice tannins. Very food friendly and great with beef stew

The 2009 vintage aged really well. It was smooth with berries and heavy with aromas. I loved it

Medium to full. Black fruit. A bit one dimensional. Dry. Plenty of legs. Maybe revisit in a couple of years. But not a long term cellar wine.

On the upper end of what we would so spend on a bottle of wine. Expensive wine are hard to rate because of the expectations which accompany them. I've found the wine market is quite efficient when it comes to price and quality. We were at a French restaurant drinking this wine paired with a rack lamb and it was nothing short of spectacular. Tannins well under control so nothing overpowered the wine smell and taste. Wonderful finish. We drained the bottle....

Esther's contribution for our second night at the lied Lodge. A Saint Emilion Grand Cru. Well balanced with light tannins.

Wet stones and green pepper. Too polished - could use a bit more grit.
