The ‘98 vintage was rated as very good for right bank.
Deep ruby.
Interesting pronounced developed nose of blackberry, plum sauce, dark cherry, graphite, tar, violet, cedar, dark chocolate.
The palate has rich and concentrated earthy flavors, dry, med+ lively acidity, med+ ripe tannins, med alcohol, pronounced intensity.
Long coffee and tar kick finish.
Very good grand cru classe, very enjoyable, still shining with great fruit in there, drink now, at zenith, suitable for further aging. Cork was fine!

Mainly Merlot, with some Cabernet Franc

Fresh garnet. Semi transparent. Compact rim.

The elegant bouquet of slightly licoriced red cherry, rosy perfume, cinnamon, earth and mushroom, and integrated cedary oak.

Relatively resolved palate though some traces of tannic structure still detectable, med to med plus acidity, dry. Red cherry, raspberry, cranberry, and red plum. Christmas fruit cake. Hint of tobacco smoke, tea leaf, and graphite.

Better lucky with this bottle than the previous one. No VA! 2/3 98 Cobin have been great. Classic Right Bankers are a dying breed, if not already extinct. 91.
