Pretty good to get a 2001 St Emillion in an Airport lounge in Dubai. Savoury balsamic notes on palate and a touch oxidised. Still enjoyable.

Deep ruby with garnet rim. Aromas of Brett are via prominent initially and a bit distracting although they diminish with time. Primary fruit aromas are almost gone leaving a notes of dried prune in addition to mushroom and leather. Medium bodied with dried dark fruit on the palate leading to bandaids on the medium length finish. There us still plenty of structure with medium+ acid, medium, fine grained tannins, and 13% alcohol. The estate is planted to 65% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon which spends 15 months in 70% new French oak. It’s definitely towards the end of its aging curve. $39.

Strawberry jam on the nose. Tannins still prevail and overpower and don't soften with time. I would expect more from 16yo
