2016 vintage. Owned by the Chanfreau family (also Lestage and Fonréaud in Listrac). A blend of Merlot (65%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (35%). Still a bit on the oaky side, but the wine handles it well. The red fruit is juicy and fresh, the tannins ripe and the wine has elegance. Wait a few years until it fully absorbs the oak or decant if you drink it now.

Black currant and spices on the nose. Some cedar and earth too. Nice right bank nose. The palate is well balanced between the strong acid backbone, a lovely grain, lively tannins and black currant that plays around. Good finish with cedar and black currant, some mocca notes too. A bit too oaky for my taste and quite typical chanfreau in its way (reminds me of a fonreaud with a moulis twist). I like it
