2005 vintage. Still amazingly young.

2002 vintage. Another great old Cantinot. Although it doesn't have the weight or complexity of the stunning 2009, it is still very much alive in a challenging vintage.

2009 vintage. These old Cantinot wines from the original bottlings are amazing. Impressive nose, truffle galore, reminiscent of great Pomerol or Saint-Emilion. While the mouth is not as spectacular as the nose it is still very impressive. Very fresh with good concentration and power, ripe tannin and very good length. This might even improve with further ageing but note that my bottle came from a perfect cellar and the bottle has been stocked there immediately after release.

2003 vintage. Surprisingly the label only states 12,5% abv. in the year of the heatwave. Another stunning example of how underrated Blaye and Bourg can be. Strawberry jam and cedarwood. Still a lot of ripe red fruit and good acidity. Tannins have a little rough edge but are well-integrated. Delicious food wine, and a huge success for the vintage.

Nose of blood and black currant and wood. Superb palate full of red fruits and velvety tannins. Long finish. We paired it with a pair of delicious grilled beef entrecôtes. What a treat !

Very nice Côtes de Blaye! Acidity and wood very present, some notes of lavender and sage. I like it!
