Got this 375ml bottle as an ode to my time at Branaire-Ducru last month - gorgeous property and a philosophy of winemaking that preserves freshness in its wine - and it shows with this young 2013. Only 13% abv, light on its feet. Beautifully nuanced nose of spring flowers, cinnamon, cherries, soft vanilla, and toasted coconut. Palate is clean and focused, with vibrant cherries, red currant, and a touch more vanilla. In a bad vintage, this is a testament to a skilled team. It doesn't have long-term aging capacity, but it's drinking solid and fresh right now.

Left this young £21 halfy decanted 8hrs before trying & drinking well but some more age will help it 😁 bit too sweet for me at present 😎

🍇 63% Cab S, 31% Mer, 5% Pet V & 1% Cab F

🍷 Opaque ruby

👃 Purple! Sweet black berry/currant & victoria plum through smoked oak w/ a blueberry, violet & minerals

👄 Med body of ripe blackcurrant, sweet blackberry & blueberry w/ a red fruit & cocoa undertone

🎯 Short+ dark fruit sweet fizzle out w/ a drying partying gift

Garnet colour, medium body. Vanilla, herbs, crushed red pepper, bison grass, and other floral notes. Soft tannins, red fruits with slightly spicy finish on the palate. Unlike most medium priced Bordeaux, this wine can be enjoyed young.
