Decanted this 09 about 4 hours before drinking. The nose was a combination of black plum overlaid with funk...a good funk. On the palate ripe luscious black fruit with forest floor and herbal notes. Med tannins and med high acid which balanced out the robustness of this wine.

A very refined, low key Royal City syrah. Some of the usual gamey funk, but not the usual powerful fruit intensity. The blueberry and fig fruit is present and very nice, yet subdued relative to some vintages of this NW classic.

Herbal and complex. Difficult to describe because it just had about everything. Bold and balanced. One of those wines that kept its full complex flavor from the beginning of your sip to the finish all the way down.

Mar 15th, 2017Huge Washington State Syrah from Charles Smith. Very plummy on the nose. The palate is BIG with stewed plums, blackberry compote and licorice. Beautiful wine.

Jun 24th, 2016Wow! Huge, huge wine. Tons of dark fruit. Just a monster. Worked well with the grilled lamb chops. Residual tastes of licorice and baking spices. Wow!
