Charles de Cazanove
Stradivarius Brut Champagne Blend
Not sure why the reviews are so mixed. This 2007 tastes great right now. I paid an astonishing $40 for this and it way over-delivers. 9.4 on the QPR scale. Typical aged champagne aromas and nutty flavors. Wow, this is a great champagne in my books. Might bring this to a future blind vintage Champagne tasting and see how this goes.

1 person found it helpfulMay 9th, 2021Fully developed with buttery hazelnut, lemon curd and baked green apples. A touch of VA suggests it's time to drink these up.

May 21st, 2017Nutty, hazelnut, browned butter on toasted brioche. Tight bubbles and good acidity. Good, not great.

Dec 31st, 2015Complex, aromatic, and in a great spot at 14 years old. On the nose there are slightly bruised apples and pears, warm buttered bread, honey, vanilla, and a subtle maple syrup thing. An oxidative style (which I enjoy) with fine, delicate bubbles. According to one of my favorite retailers in town, this is one of ten bottles allocated to the Natural State. Here’s to putting 2021 in the rear view mirror.

Jan 1st, 2022A slightly muted copper in the glass with smallish bubbles still persistent and present. Traces of a creamy mousse. The nose is exuberant with aromas of lemon zest and a tremendous amount of yeast. The autolytic notes here are everywhere, which goes further with me than other people. Green apples and honey are here, as well.
The years on this baby are showing in a good way and right now it’s singing. Maybe not built for the long, long haul but just right at the moment. Nice acidity and well structured. Loads of brioche and roasted nuts up front on this with strong citrus notes coming. A little pineapple and tangerine along with apricots blossom here. Long finish with mild acid. Nice, nice stuff.

Lots of bottle variation, but still bright, fresh, with plenty of deep brioche panache. For the money, it Dikembe Mutombo finger wags at a lot of other bottles out there.
