Why do I always forget that Switzerland makes great wine
Why do I always forget that Switzerland makes great wine
Apr 12th, 2020The Swiss name for the varietal in this little gem is “Heida”. As the story goes there’s a strong probability that as the vines were shared, passed and re-planted around the Swiss region decades ago, what began as Traminer evolved into what I’ve got under my nose. Lush pear and stone lead the way to a truly remarkably smooth and voluptuous palate. Meat on its bones, and in all the right, graceful ways. The palate leads (and holds) through the lengthy finish that’s balanced beautifully between a sort of creamy presence and juicy acidity.

This 2011 from @cavescaloz is exquisitely aromatic with herbs and flowers on the nose, and a long honey finish on the palate. Nostalgic for last year's visit to Valais!

May 14th, 2015Sauvignin from Switzerland. The Jura fiend in me is very excited. Not as oxidized as a typical Jura, but certainly has notes of hazelnut and orange blossom.
