Castra Rubra
Classic Sauvignon Blanc
Thracian Valley, Bulgaria

Beautiful color of light gold, with a yellow tint.
Light nose of rotten citrus fruits, pineapples, lemons, Indian spices, bananas, pears and red apples.
Medium bodied with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with limes, citrus, lemons, light mandarins, spices, black pepper, green beans and over ripen grapefruits.
Short and sour finish with bitter almonds and grapefruits.
This Sauvignon Blanc from Bulgaria is too old. Past its time by a couple of years.
Feels a little rotten both on the nose and palate. Oh, well...
13% alcohol by volume.

Light Straw in color with a golden/green hue.
Gorgeous nose of wildflowers, tropical fruits, lemons, grapefruits, mangoes, kiwis, bananas, peaches and melons.
Full-bodied and buttery, with high acidity.
Dry and tart on the palate with green apples, grapefruits, citrus, oak, cream, grass and lemons.
Medium finish with bitter almonds.
This is a Drinkable Sauvignon Blanc, but not more than that. Simple and better with food, but not by itself. Too bitter for my taste.
A little of a let down, for me, since the chief wine maker is Michel Rolland. I usually like his stuff very much.
